Flextend™ skin barrier (wafer)
FlexTend provides
ostomates with the longest wear time
available. Flextend is a hydrocolloid
skin barrier that is designed to be the
most resistant to discharge and is the
barrier of choice for urostomies and high
output ileosotomies. Flextend barriers
swell when in contact with liquid
discharge. It has a mildly acidic pH (4.5
- 5.0) which may help to control the
growth of some skin organisms.
Caution: use of a
skin sealant (e.g. Skin Gel Protective
Dressing Wipes) will decrease the wear
time that would be expected. |

Stomas that are flushed, recessed or

wafer with convexity. The barrier
actually pushes slightly into the skin
for a better fit. These barriers are

SoftFlex is a thin and highly flexible
hydrocolloid skin barrier that provides
gentle adherence to skin. It is designed
for more frequently removed pouches like
closed one-piece pouches or when the skin
is very fragile (e.g. elderly ostomates).
SoftFlex is mildly resistant to breakdown
and is best used for low water content
discharge (e.g. colostomies). |
